Academic job opportunity: Indigenous Land Use – Canada Research Chair Tier 2 – Vancouver Island University
About the role: You will contribute to VIU’s graduate programs through research, outreach and teaching with significant opportunities for collaboration with local First Nations and the broader community. As the CRC, you will demonstrate familiarity with Indigenous research methods and/or pedagogy. As part of VIU’s continuing evolution, and efforts to align work with our Academic Plan, you will explore research topics analogous to these areas:
implications for Indigenous land use planning and development as a result of emerging Rights and Title court decisions;
emerging Indigenous land use planning practices;
pre-colonization land use patterns;
impacts of historical governance (Indian Act, reserve system) upon Indigenous land use;
other research related to the impact of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
